St Andrews & Fife
Although it never had its own king the eastern part of Fife was, and still is, referred to as The Kingdom of Fife - and it is hard to deny it that title.
Just to mention the name ' St Andrews' is enough to invite the assumption that the place belongs in a kingdom

- a visit to its castle and cathedral ruins do nothing to diminish that.
The magnificent university buildings and, for some the most majestic of all, the
golf courses, justify its regal claim.
The sandy beaches and picturesque harbour could easily be added to the
list..... and that can be said for many of the villages further down the Fife coast.
Despite their popularity, all retain an unhurried nature....
In Crail you will find many interesting and tranquil spots as you explore at leisure
Happily join the queue for fish and chips in Anstruther, walk along the harbour and watch the vessels drift in and out of the marina
Carry on down the coast to take in other fine coastal villages, not forgetting the larger towns in Fife - Leven, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Cupar - and the region's other gems, such as Falkland Palace. They all make Fife a great place to be.
