The following terms and conditions apply to all bookings and are deemed to be accepted by all parties once a booking is confirmed in writing and a contract is made between the customer and Detour Travel.
Detour Travel provides tourism services in Scotland and other areas of the United Kingdom . The company does not currently make arrangements, or take responsibility, for travel to and from the UK , although assistance can be provided if requested (including visa support where applicable) and the company will always ensure that the UK arrangements correspond with customer arrival/departure schedules.
Complete payment for all agreed services should be received no later than 21 days before arrival, or with the booking if this is confirmed within 21 days of arrival. Any refund for cancellation by the customer after this 21 day limit will depend on whether non-refundable amounts have already been paid to suppliers. Groups are usually subject to specific payment terms advised during the booking process.
The customer should arrange appropriate insurance prior to arrival.
In accordance with EU regulations amounts received from customers in payment of travel packages arranged by Detour Travel are held in a trust account until the contract is performed.
Detour Travel reserves the right to alter itineraries or vary hotel accommodation whenever circumstances make it necessary, although the original arrangements will apply wherever possible. Any proposed changes would be notified at the earliest opportunity, and any alternative arrangements/accommodation would be of an appropriate, agreed standard.
Tickets for all modes of public transport within the UK are subject to the conditions of carriage of the transport provider and, where applicable, are purchased on behalf of the customer on that understanding.
Customers who have a complaint about any service should notify the management at the particular establishment if applicable and advise Detour Travel at the earliest opportunity (certainly before departure from the UK if possible) to allow prompt and appropriate action to be taken. Thereafter the company can only consider complaints received in writing within 7 days of the contract being performed.
Detour Travel cannot be held responsible for loss or damage where the terms of the contract are not fulfilled owing to any of the following circumstances: war (including threat of war), riot, strike action, terrorist activity, industrial dispute outwith the company, natural or nuclear disasters, fire, weather conditions, or other similar circumstances beyond the control of the company.
